How Does GCP Storage Differ From AWS Storage

The growing prominence of cloud based storage solutions must be well evident to everyone. The low cost, scalable & secure cloud based storage solutions are encouraging enterprises to make migrate their business operations from their existing infrastructure into the cloud. At the present time, the cloud industry is being dominated by service providers like Google’s GCP, Microsoft’s Azure & Amazon’s AWS.

As per a report released by Gartner, by 2022, the global cloud computing market share is expected to grow up to $331.2 billion. In the near future, every company would be operating their services completely over the cloud. Leading cloud service providers like AWS & GCP have significantly lowered their prices to attract large audience base. Amid the rising demand for cloud solutions, enterprises across different verticals have started recurring skilled & certified experts in AWS at large.  Work towards becoming an early leader in the technology of cloud with AWS with the help of our advanced AWS Training in Hyderabad program.

Now, let’s look at the difference between the GCP & AWS cloud storage services.

Difference Between GCP & AWS Storage Services:

  • Storing Large Data Files

If your requirement is storing large amount of data across a platform which is highly available, scalable, and with low latency then look no further beyond Google Cloud storage (Regional and Multi-regional) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) services by AWS.

Both these storage services store data in the form of buckets and objects. Once storedm these files cannot be overwritten as these storage solutions will be permitting only ‘create’ or ‘delete’ operations. Wherever a file is uploaded or deleted, the user will be notified about the same.

  • Storage Pricing

Both GCP & AWS will be charging the user based on the amount of data stored every month by network egress for API requests. The pricing gets varied from one data storage region to other. Users can store unlimited amount of without worrying about the underlying infrastructure.

  • Storage Service To Attach To The Virtual Machines

Virtual Machines are crucial applications of cloud & are used for storing internal memory to store the application data through block storage. Persistent Disk block storage application would be used in GCP and AWS makes use of Amazon Elastic Block Storage (EBS).
